This space is to those of us feeling a little lost, anxious, confused amongst various other things that are swirling in us at various times. In this life, where it feels to be moving so fast, you cannot seem to catch up, days just keep morphing into another in what seems like an endless loop.
Well, this is to show you that you certainly are not alone, in the comparison, the what-ifs, spark of jealousy amongst others. This would be used to proffer a deeper understanding into what’s within, to what they are all about and how to move from it.
THE MIND – what you feed it…
The human mind is very delicate yet quite complex in its own standing. How we think, how we feel, how we interpret the things we go through, all happens in our minds.
It has a way of controlling how we conceptualize the external world for all its ups and downs, which is why we strive to manage it by focusing on the positive side of things as it would bring about a more pleasant outlook to the world we live in.
In the words of NF, in his song – the search, a particular line goes like this- the mind is a powerful place and what you feed it can affect you in a powerful way; it goes further to talk about how if you think you’d never be great, you probably never be.
What you choose to feed your mind has a profound impact on you as an individual; it can be your greatest asset or a major drawback depending on how you choose to wield it. Occasionally, certain thoughts tend to stick and play over in our heads like a broken tape that keeps on going and if you are like me (an over thinker), the feeling of being stuck imposes on your entire self. This makes you shut yourself out from the world, and instead sit and stew in those thoughts that can’t seem to leave you- mostly negative ones.
Once we give way to these thought; positive or negative, this can have a boomerang effect on the present and what’s to come. In my opinion this is the power the mind holds.
In a podcast by Joyce Meyers, she speaks on the topic “thinking on purpose”- this involves thinking about what you are thinking about. You control what you think, even though it might not seem like that.
It is human nature to focus on all the million little things not going right in our lives especially when our reality clashes with what we’ve conjured up in our heads, this causes us to go a bit haywire, letting the negative in which sways our persona, outlook on life and how we present ourselves to the world.
There are certainly a number of ways to affect your mind to act a certain way and tackle those thoughts and strive for that soft life which brings about ease, less worry and a much healthier lifestyle. A lot of people have their own system in place to deal with negative thoughts when they come in.
Focusing on the negatives never does anyone good and would never do anyone good. Taking time to redirect our thoughts to on those million little things that we tend to toss aside and take for granted actually helps as it invokes a sense of gratitude and easiness. Although cliché, being alive is on the top of my list, because that must mean there is still hope for something to change and if you feel like you are at rock bottom, trust there is no way to go but up.
Engaging the mind is a way to put out those negative thoughts by connecting with certain words that stir your mind towards a more optimistic outlook of life. Podcasts, Blogs, Books and many others can be used as a thought provoking instrument to help shape the mind.
Before I place my final full stop, whichever system one chooses to undertake, a conscious effort is what is needed to actualize the goal in mind. Removing oneself from these negative thoughts would not be easy, but it is so much better at the other side of it. Always showing up for yourself in more ways than one is one of the best things you can do for you. The interior matters just as much as the exterior.
